Strands of Wild (2026)

Strands Of Wild blends memoir, nature writing, and science reporting.

My mid-life arrived on the heels of grief, motherhood, and illness, and I found my life experience had narrowed into something small and domesticated. A backpacking trip to Colorado cracked my life back open. In an attempt to rewild my life, I began to observe forms of wildness within myself – emotional, maternal, ecological. The narrative meanders through rewilding case studies and my outdoor adventures, and how the two are teaching me to live bigger. My rewilding understanding journeyed out into the vast universe and in to the sub-atomic forces within me. As I continued to search for reconnection with the more-than-human world, the more I stood in wonder of the natural world all around me. Strands Of Wild is ultimately a story about recovering my awe and wonder and with that my sense of agency and belonging.
